My Fly-about the Continental U.S.

Bernie Velivis     May-June 2006

I became a private pilot in December of 1997, purchased a 1967 Piper Arrow (N3736T) in April of 2000, and added an instrument rating to my certificate in August of 2001 (PPSEL/IA). Ever since I bought the Arrow, I have dreamed of flying it about the US. The right combination of free time, a little extra money, and a mechanically sound aircraft finally occurred in May of 2006. My plan was to circumnavigate the US with the four corners of my trip being Nashua NH, Myrtle Beach, SC, San Diego CA, and Napa Valley CA. I asked members of the Piper Mailing List for advice on places to visit when in their area. I got that and lots more. Many list members whom I've never met invited me to meet for lunch and a few welcomed me into their homes. With only 2 days notice I found, borrowed, or purchased what I'd need to make the trip safely, packed the plane, and planned the first few days.  The trip begins at my home airport, Boire Field in Nashua NH (KASH) Monday afternoon, May 23, 2006.
