Day 1
Today is the day that I start my
fly-about the continental US. I spent the better part of yesterday with
the Arrow in the shop doing inspections, changing the oil, and getting
everything organized. Yesterday started off with a short trip to visit
Dave Jablon who was kind enough to lend me an O2 bottle for the trip.
Getting into his airpark with crosswinds gusting to 20+ was enough to
get the adrenaline going I can tell you. The runway is
surrounded by trees on all sides, and the numerous taxiways that
run perpendicular to the runway conspire to create some nasty
turbulence when the wind is out of the north. Good practice and a
good shot of humility to help me keep on my toes for this trip.
The first 3 days are well planned and I have a rough sketch of for the
remainder of the week. I'm hoping to hook up with as many list members as
possible, so please, have a look at my schedule and if I'm in your
neighborhood, and flying nearby, please contact me.
Ok, I have to get moving to finish my shopping. I'll have my laptop with me,
and will check in from time to time with pictures and progress reports.
